How to Increase Your Income As A Content Creator

August 30, 2020

When I started blogging, I had no clue that you could make money writing posts and creating content. Once I found that out, I looked into the different ways to make money blogging.

If you want to create full-time, then it’s important to diversify your income streams because you never know how your financial situation will look.

For example, working with brands is one way to bring in money. What if you’re not receiving as many partnerships during a specific season? If you have other streams of income, this won’t affect you as much!

In this post, I’m discussing 7 ways you can increase your income as a Content Creator.

I recommend starting with one and then adding another stream once you’re comfortable. You don’t want to focus on too many and become overwhelmed!

Ways to Make Money Blogging

Ad Networks and Banners

One of the ways to make money blogging is using Ad Networks and Banners.

A popular network that I see many recommend is Google AdSense. On the website, you can put in your location and niche to find an estimate of how much you can earn based on your monthly visitors.

One of the ways to make money blogging is to use an Ad Network such as Google AdSense.

You can also sell ad space to brands on your website! If they want to promote their brand or certain products, you can allow them to do that for a specified amount of time.

If you choose ads as a form of income, make sure you don’t use too many at once. One downfall to using ads is it can turn readers away. You don’t want to overwhelm potential subscribers and customers when they visit your website.

Keep it clean and professional!

Affiliate links allow you to earn a percentage of a sale when someone clicks on it and purchases the item. If you’re regularly promoting a brand, this is a great way to make money blogging!

When you recommend a product or service from a company, they will give you a commission based on how many people bought it. Some companies pay you a flat fee per order or they provide a discount on the sale amount.

In my opinion, using affiliate links is the easiest stream of income to start using.

Here are some affiliate programs to join:

  • Amazon Associates
  • RewardStyle
  • ShopStyle Collective
  • ShareASale

Influencer Networks

Influencer networks are platforms that help connect brands and creators for campaigns. They serve as the middleman!

Some networks require certain criteria to be met before getting approved, however, most of them are easy to sign up for and start booking campaigns!

On these networks, you’ll find a list of active campaigns you can apply to. You’ll be able to see the purpose of the campaign, expected deliverables, and what type of creators they’re looking for.

I love viewing all of the information upfront because I can decide whether or not it would be the perfect fit for my audience.

On these networks, you’ll connect your social media platforms and brands will have access to your analytics. From there, they’ll decide if you’re a good fit and you’ll be notified when you’re accepted.

Brand Partnerships

One of the most popular ways to make money blogging is by working with brands. Working with your favorite brands on different campaigns can bring in a good amount of income.

Charging a flat rate for the deliverables they’re expecting is important. Your rates will vary and won’t be the same as someone else.

What you decide to charge for your content is completely up to you! Here are some factors to keep in mind before deciding how much you’ll charge:

  • Is there a deadline?
  • How long will it take you to create the content?
  • Where will they use your content?
  • Is there any exclusivity?
  • Your engagement rate
  • Quality of your content
  • Equipment/Software you’ll use

It’ll take trial and error when it comes to charging your worth for brand partnerships. Don’t be afraid to aim high!

Create Your Own Products

There are a variety of things you can offer if you choose to create your own products. Some bloggers make digital products and others make physical ones.

Here are some examples:

  • eBooks
  • Online Courses
  • Webinars
  • Beauty Products
  • Apparel

Having your own product can bring in another stream of income while you’re sleeping.

If you view yourself as an expert on a specific topic, you can create an eBook that’ll break down all of the information. If you want it to be more interactive, you can record a series of videos and put together an online course.

It all depends on your preference and what you believe your audience would benefit from.

If you want to have your own product line, don’t let the fact that other people are doing it stop you from pursuing your passion.

When you go to the store, there are many brands to choose from and they sell within the same category. Imagine if one of them decided not to go for it because there’s too much competition.

As creators, we all have a unique voice and something to share with others. Even if you’re in the same niche as others and want to create similar products, you can still stand out by being authentic.

Offer Services

If you’re an expert in a specific niche, people are willing to pay for your knowledge and advice! There are a variety of services you can offer such as:

  • Blog Consultation
  • Virtual Assistant
  • Memberships
  • One-On-One Coaching

You can use your services as an opportunity to provide more in-depth information that you haven’t covered on your website or social media platforms.

Come up with prices that reflect how much time you’ll be contributing toward each service and the valuable information you’ll be offering.

Contribute to Other Websites

One of the last ways to make money blogging is by contributing blog articles to other websites.

Look for opportunities within your niche and pitch your blog post ideas! This is a great way to show your expertise on certain topics and get your content in front of more readers.

You can charge a flat rate for each post or get paid hourly. Take the following into consideration before setting your rates:

  • Keyword research and optimization
  • Creating Pinterest graphics for promotion
  • How many images will you provide?
  • How much research is needed?

There’s a lot that goes into writing and posting a blog, therefore, you want to charge accordingly for your time!

If you’re looking for different ways to make money blogging, these are perfect to start with even as a beginner!

Multiple streams of income are key if you plan on doing this full-time. You always want to make sure you’ll have income even if one stream doesn’t work out.

Those are great ideas! So far, I think my focus will be color analysis and style services, and an affiliate capsule wardrobe guide based on your color analysis type. But that’s only two. I might either write ebooks or create a courses in the future. I’m using Google analytics to see which blog posts are doing the best, so that may give me some ideas. Thanks for your guidance!

Thank you for reading! Sounds like you already know what to focus on and I think an eBook or course would be perfect for your brand. Google Analytics is a great tool and it shows you what you should continue to create for your audience! You’re welcome!
