7 Budget-Friendly Toners for Sensitive Skin

December 6, 2020

Toners are one of the most important steps in your routine even though many people underestimate how much of a difference they can make. I’ve tried a variety of toners for sensitive skin over the years and have fallen in love with this product.

Face toners are water-based, fast-absorbing products that are used after cleansing. They remove any leftover dirt or makeup that your cleanser may have missed and also prepares your skin for the rest of your products.

You can apply your toner to a cotton round and rub it across your face and neck. You’ll be surprised how much dirt/makeup is left behind in your pores!

Once I realized this, I knew I had to add a toner as a regular step in my routine.

Here are more benefits of using toners:

  • Provides hydration for your skin
  • Restores the natural pH balance
  • Brightens your complexion
  • Can prevent acne + clogged pores

It can be difficult to find good-quality products for sensitive skin, which is why I decided to write this post featuring 7 toners for sensitive skin that are budget-friendly!

Toners for Sensitive Skin

Heritage Store Rosewater

One affordable toner for sensitive skin is Rosewater & Glycerin from the Heritage Store.

Rosewater is perfect for sensitive skin because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s gentle and can soothe redness + dryness.

Glycerin is a humectant that helps lock in moisture and provides a dewy glow for your skin.

This toner is multipurpose — it can be used as a refresher throughout the day and as a makeup setting spray.

Here are a few benefits of using this:

  • Soothes irritated skin
  • Reduces excess oil
  • Provides deep hydration
  • Reduces the look of acne

This has been my go-to for years and it’s a game-changer for my dry, sensitive skin. You need this in your life!

Heritage Store Lavender Water

Another toner that’s from the Heritage Store is their Lavender Water. I purchased this one day because I couldn’t find the Rosewater in stock and I instantly fell in love with it after a couple of uses.

Lavender can soothe your skin, reduce the appearance of imperfections, and provide a smooth, glowing complexion. It also keeps your skin hydrated while preventing breakouts.

This toner smells good and I’ve enjoyed using it in my routine. If you’re looking for a product that’s relaxing and moisturizing, then check this out!

Rosen Skincare Tropics Toner

Rosen Skincare Tropics Toner

Rosen Skincare is a black-owned beauty brand with good-quality products.

Their Tropics Toner will make the perfect addition to your routine. The consistency is close to a watery serum and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed.

This is formulated to help hydrate while fading dark spots. It’s great for those who experience slight breakouts and have hyperpigmentation to get rid of.

Some of the ingredients are Hyaluronic Acid, Kojic Acid, Pineapple Extract, and Papaya.

Here are more benefits this toner provides:

  • Has brightening properties
  • Fights against dark spots + scars
  • Provides hydration
  • Calms oil production + textured skin

It also smells good! The name of this toner fits well because it does give tropical vibes.

Crabtree + Evelyn Exfoliating Tonic

Crabtree and Evelyn create products with ingredients that are inspired by their adventures around the world.

Using them can give you a sense of connecting with that specific location, and that’s what I love about them! Each product has a story that makes them unique.

I’ve been loving the Brighten + Hydrate Exfoliating Tonic in my nighttime routine. It provides nourishment for my dry skin and helps loosen dead skin cells for exfoliation. The smell is also heavenly!

Some of the exfoliants are Lactic, Glycolic, Malic, and Salicylic Acid which all work together to break up excess sebum, minimize the appearance of pores, and create smoother skin.

It also contains Apple Fruit Water for hydration and the soothing properties of Liquorice Root.

Revolution Hylaboost Jelly Water

The Hylaboost Jelly Water Toner from Revolution Skincare is perfect for providing hydration and nourishment to the skin. It has the texture of a serum with the benefits of a toner.

It’s formulated with four different weights of Hyaluronic Acid which means they vary in molecule size. They all work together to penetrate deeper into the skin, enhance moisture, provide softness, and prevent water loss.

My skin feels refreshed and moisturized whenever I use this. It doesn’t cause irritation and it’s great for replenishing your skin’s moisture after cleansing.

Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner

Thayer's Witch Hazel Rose Petal Facial Toner

When I did my research before starting a skincare routine, I kept seeing people recommend Thayer’s Witch Hazel toners. My favorite one from their collection is the Rose Petal formula.

It’s used to cleanse, tone, moisturize, and balance the pH of your skin. Besides Rosewater + Aloe Vera, it also contains organic, non-distilled Witch Hazel.

Non-distilled means they keep all of the naturally occurring tannins which provide antioxidants and antibacterial benefits for the skin.

Witch Hazel may be harsh for some. This is why it’s important to pay attention to the ingredients and make sure it doesn’t contain alcohol. Alcohol can be drying and irritate the skin.

Jumiso Waterfull Hyaluronic Toner

The last toner that I recommend is Jumiso Waterfull Hyaluronic Acid Toner. This is perfect for those who deal with dry, rough, and flaky skin.

Hyaluronic Acid attracts and retains moisture which will help your skin feel more hydrated and supple. It also provides the following benefits:

  • Replenishes moisture
  • Reduces the appearance of pores
  • Provides a smoother texture
  • Strengthens the skin’s barrier

I love that this toner is lightweight and absorbs easily into the skin – you don’t have to worry about it leaving behind a sticky feeling either!

Hopefully, after reading this, you have a different outlook on toners. Many people think toners aren’t necessary because they don’t understand the benefits they provide for our skin!

Toners have become one of my favorite products to invest in because they have made a huge difference in my routine. If you haven’t added this step yet, then what are you waiting for?

These are some of the best toners for sensitive skin and they won’t disappoint!
