I didn’t know much about small black-owned brands until I started my Instagram page. There were many products I saw my favorite bloggers rave about, and the best part was they were handmade with natural ingredients. During this time, I was transitioning to natural hair and wasn’t using the best products. However, once I found out about these brands, I wanted to make a change and invest in products I knew would benefit my hair.
Now I’m proud to say that I’m a consistent supporter of black-owned brands. My hair has changed tremendously since switching to their products and I don’t see myself ever going back! Here are some reasons why you should support black-owned:
Why Buy Black?
Support a Dream

Can you imagine how difficult it is to run a business? You have to buy the ingredients, create your products by hand, handle customer service, and promote your brand on social media to get in front of more customers. It takes someone special, dedicated, and hardworking to do all of those things on their own!
Too often we see women tearing each other down, however, supporting black-owned brands is empowering. They started their brand for a reason, therefore, your support keeps them going. I love it
They Know What You Need
Have you ever visited a brand’s social media page and didn’t see anyone who looked like you? When this happens, I assume the products aren’t created for me. I’m sure other naturals feel the same way.
I’m not saying everything you use from a small black-owned brand will work perfectly for you, however, these women are creating products that are ideal for our hair. They take into consideration the different curls, kinks, and coils we have, which ingredients would work for our textures, and they create products that will provide those bomb results we’re looking for.
I don’t know about you but that sounds like an ideal place to drop my coins, especially if my results will be poppin’!
Black-Owned Natural Hair Brands
I know there are hundreds, even thousands of black-owned, natural hair brands on social media. This list doesn’t include all of them, however, these are brands I’ve supported, loved, and continue to use on my hair.
Not to mention, their customer service is on point and the quality of their products have never failed me. I’ve also included brands that I haven’t had a chance to try yet, however, I’ve heard great reviews about their customer service and products.

What a great list! My faves on this list are Uniqurl and Discover TreLuxe! Looking forward to trying plenty more! ❤️
Thank you boo! Discover Treluxe has bomb products and I definitely enjoyed them! Thank you for reading!
Yasss I love this blog. You are so right on the reasons why we all should support Black, Woman Owned and Small Businesses. I am personally on a mission to try even more businesses and this list will help. Great read as usual.
Thanks so much for tagging Premier Natural By K2!!
Sincerely,
Dee Johnson
Awe thank you sis, I appreciate you! And of course, you’re welcome! We all need to support each other more!
I agree with this list and I’ve been trying some new ones thanks to you .
Thank you for reading sis! I’m glad you’ve been able to try more. And I hope you love them as much as I do!
I’m so flattered that you included me in this list!! I was going to comment anyways lol that I love this post and agree with you 100%. Since I started using black owned products I have not only noticed a huge difference in my hair – but I’m also more conscious to support small businesses all around. Unfortunately much of what’s sold in stores 1. Isn’t really natural at all and 2. The profits lead back to same huge multi million dollar companies.. they are just slapping the world natural on products so we will buy them and make them money smh.
Lol of course sis! And you’re right about ALLLL of what you just said! -claps- They sure do! I haven’t purchased from a brand in a store in a long time. My entire stash is from small black-owned brands and that makes me feel really good. We have to keep supporting them so they can win too!
I absolutely love this. Keep going Madisen!
Thank you for your support! ♥️
I love shopping black! I get a kick out of how creative we are and I love the fact that you can interact with small black owned businesses vs other businesses. I try to support black businesses every month.
Same here sis! Especially when it comes to communicating with them. And usually you’re able to form a better relationship as well. I’ll probably never stop shopping black for hair and skincare.
Wow ! I absolutely love how you outlined this post. Like supporting a person’s dream, how awesome is that ?! Since really embracing natural, black owned buisnesses have never let me down. I do still have some big companies in my stash but those have deff dwindled down. I see some of my faves in the list && some new ones to try !
Thank you love! And yes girl we are supporting something they’re passionate about, and I enjoy doing that. I also have a couple of big companies in my stash as well, however, small brands are definitely taking over!
I would like to submit Just Oil Hair at justoilhair.com. All of her products are natural and I love her hair lotion.
Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll be sure to add them to this list. ❤️
