Natural Hair Gift Ideas
Cee’s Design Satin Bonnet
Wearing a satin bonnet is important if you want to protect your curls from breakage.
I recommend checking out Cee’s Design Shop for customized bonnets. She’s also black-owned which is always a bonus!
They’re comfortable, attractive, and will stay on all night. You can customize it any way that you want: change the colors, font styles, stickers, and what you want it to say.
Kazmaleje Paddle Comb
Kazmaleje is a black-owned brand that creates hair tools to address the styling and detangling needs for natural hair. When I first saw this Paddle Comb, I was hesitant to purchase it, however, I’m glad I did!
It’s sturdy and does an amazing job at detangling whether I’m doing a pre-poo, deep conditioning, or styling. I can easily detangle thicker sections without worrying about excessive breakage.
The Paddle Comb can be used for blow-drying, scalp massages, and the end of it can section your hair. I love it when a tool is multipurpose! You can check out this tutorial to see a demo of how I use this.
I’ve been using this handheld scalp massager for years and it hasn’t disappointed me! Doing scalp massages regularly has the following benefits:
- Increases blood circulation to the scalp
- Promotes healthy hair growth
- Strengthens the roots
- Prevents flakes and dryness
It reaches your scalp easily without causing tangles and it vibrates which is very relaxing!
Sparkly Hair Clips
Hair clips are the perfect accessory to add to a hairstyle for extra spice!
There is a variety to choose from with different words and you can find customizable ones.
You won’t have to worry about these causing a headache or putting extra tension on your edges.
Whenever I wear a high puff, I’m comfortable throughout the day since it doesn’t feel like anything is in my hair.
Flairosol Spray Bottle
A spray bottle will make styling and refreshing your curls easier.
Instead of pumping a bottle and your fingers getting tired, the Flairosol sprayers provide a continuous mist with one push.
You don’t have to worry about too much water coming out and saturating your hair. You’re in control!
Instead of going to a stylist, you may want to save time and money and cut your hair. Before doing that, you want to invest in professional scissors or shears.
Shears will help you achieve a precise cut which is important. You can also use them to dust your ends.
Dusting is when you cut a small amount off the ends of your hair. This technique helps remove splits before they become worse.
I usually dust my ends when I do two-strand twists — I’m able to see the ends that look raggedy and cut them easier!
Although this method is great, it’s important to remember that it doesn’t replace your professional trims! Here’s a tutorial showing an example of dusting.
Rat Tail Comb
I used to be against using rat tail combs, however, they’ve been beneficial for my routine.
You can use these combs to part your hair and detangle your ends while styling.
Whenever I’m doing a twist-out, I make sure to run this comb through the ends of my hair so my style can come out nice and free from tangles.
Microfiber towels are great for drying your hair without causing frizz or breakage. It’s highly absorbent and won’t leave your hair feeling dried out as cotton towels do.
I’ve been using this microfiber towel from The Mane Choice on wash days and I love it!
It does a great job at removing excess water and it doesn’t cause tangles which is always a plus for me.
Thermal Hot Head
The last tool I recommend is the Thermal Hot Head. Adding heat while deep conditioning is key, and an easy, convenient way to do that is with this microwaveable cap.
The heat will open up your hair’s cuticle which means your product will be able to penetrate your strands better.
Besides deep conditioning, it can also be used for pre-poo treatments, DIYs, and hot oil treatments.
I love that you can freely move around while wearing this instead of being stuck in one spot for 30-45 minutes.
My African Pride Pre-Poo
This is hands down one of the best pre-poo treatments I’ve tried on my hair.
The African Pride Pre-Shampoo is a moisturizing and detangling blend that conditions, remove tangles, protects, and leaves your curls manageable. The key ingredients are Aloe Vera and Coconut Water.
The consistency is slimy like Aloe and it provides plenty of slip.
No matter how tangled or matted my hair is, it removes all knots and shed hair easily, and helps me detangle quickly.
As soon as you apply this to your hair, you’ll see that the hype is real!
Melanin Haircare Style Cream
Melanin Haircare is a brand created by the OG of YouTube, Naptural85, or Whitney White. I was excited when I heard she was launching natural hair products — and one of my favorites is the Twist-Elongating Style Cream.
It comes in a 16oz container and lasts for a while! This cream is moisturizing, has plenty of slip, and helped me achieve bomb twist-outs!
It’s formulated with 5 nourishing kinds of butter: Shea, Mango, Cocoa, Kokum, and Cupuacu butter.
Whenever I use this, my hair stays moisturized and defined for an entire week. I highly recommend this as one of the best natural hair gift ideas!
Dominican Curly Ayurvedic Oil
I’ve been incorporating Ayurvedic herbs in my regimen for almost two years. Ayurvedic herbs provide several benefits for natural hair such as promoting hair growth and soothing scalp conditions.
Some of the ingredients are Peppermint Oil, Henna, Neem, Cassia, and Castor Oil.
Ever since I started using this, I haven’t had to deal with dandruff or itchiness as I did in the past.
Strands of Faith Clay Wash
Clay washes are great for removing product buildup and giving your curls a fresh start. I love using them at the beginning of each month and it does a great job at cleansing and conditioning my hair.
One that I recommend checking out is the Strands of Faith Miracle 3-n-1 Clay Wash.
Some of the ingredients are Aloe Vera Juice, Rhassoul Clay, Bentonite Clay, Kaolin Clay, and Shea Butter. This worked miracles on my dry hair when I used it.
You can watch this tutorial to see a before and after.
Camille Rose Algae Renew DC
I’ve been sleeping on this deep conditioner and now I see what the hype is all about!
The Algae Renew Deep Conditioner from Camille Rose would make a perfect natural hair gift. I always say you can never have too many deep conditioners in your collection.
It’s a step you should be doing every wash day to restore moisture and strengthen your strands!
This product has plenty of slip and will leave your hair bouncy and moisturized. It’s packed with nourishing ingredients such as Blue Algae, Aloe Vera Juice, Biotin, and Mango Butter.
Nature’s Little Secret Rose Conditioner
I’ve been a huge fan of Nature’s Little Secret since starting my natural hair journey. Her products have worked wonders for my high porosity hair.
Although I recommend her entire collection, one of my favorites is the Rose Hydrating Conditioner. I used this to pre-poo my hair a few times and the slip is the bomb! You can check out the video here.
This product contains Rosewater which has many benefits such as:
- Hydrates, moisturizes, + conditions
- Soothes the scalp
- Helps you detangle easily
- Provides soft, manageable curls
All of her products are natural and smell like a bakery.
Neges Banda Chebe Pre-Poo
Chebe is another Ayurvedic herb you can incorporate into your hair regimen. It helps moisturize + condition the hair, encourages length retention, strengthens, and helps hair retain moisture.
If you’re looking for a great product with this ingredient, then you need the Neges Banda Chebe Pre-Poo Treatment.
This has a good amount of slip and will help you detangle easier and faster. Whenever my hair is full of tangles and knots, I know I can reach for this and achieve soft, moisturized results!
NaturAll Club JBCO Collection
NaturAll Club recently launched the Jamaican Black Castor Oil collection and it didn’t disappoint. In the collection, you’ll find the following products:
- Strengthening Ice Cream Treatment
- Original JBCO Serum
- Strengthening JBCO Serum
Jamaican Black Castor oil is perfect for natural hair because it helps moisturize the scalp, reduce frizz, and promote healthy hair growth.
The serum can be used for your scalp massages, hot oil treatments, and can help lock in moisture while styling your hair.
Treluxe Untie the Knot Leave-In
Finally, the last product I recommend is the Untie the Knot Leave-In Conditioner from Treluxe.
This leave-in is moisturizing and smells amazing! It gives off Christmas vibes to me. Whenever I use this on my hair, I achieve long-lasting, defined results.
It’s formulated with Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, Keratin Amino Acids, Slippery Elm, and Broccoli Seed Oil.
Honestly, all of their products are great for women with kinks and curls. On top of that, they’re also black-owned!
These natural hair gift ideas would make the perfect addition to anyone’s regimen.
Make sure you share this gift guide with your other curl friends and surprise your loved ones with good-quality products and tools that’ll help them achieve healthier natural hair!
