Deep conditioning is an important step everyone should include in their regimen. It’s necessary to do if you want to maintain healthy natural hair on your journey.

Here are some benefits of deep conditioning:

  • Replenishes moisture
  • Provides better manageability
  • Strengthens your hair
  • Reduces breakage and shedding
  • Increases elasticity

If you have high porosity hair, then deep conditioning regularly is important.

Since your hair is more prone to dryness, you want to keep a good moisture-protein balance by alternating between using moisturizing and protein-based treatments.

In this post, I’m sharing 10 effective deep conditioners for high porosity hair that will provide long-lasting moisture and strength.

Deep Conditioners for High Porosity Hair

OBIA Naturals Babassu Conditioner

One of the best deep conditioners for high porosity hair is the Babassu Deep Conditioner from OBIA Naturals.

The first deep conditioner for high porosity hair that I love for long-lasting moisture is the Babassu Deep Conditioner from OBIA Naturals.

It will restore the moisture balance of your hair and provide soft, manageable curls! This conditioner also has a ton of slip which helps me to quickly detangle.

Their products are vegan and contain all-natural ingredients that’ll help your curls flourish.

Pardo Naturals Deep Conditioner

If you’re looking for a deep penetrating moisturizing conditioner that will help you detangle, the Deep Moisturizing Conditioner from Pardo Naturals is perfect.

I leave this on for 30 minutes and my curls always feel hydrated and soft afterward.

She Scent It Marula Mallow

She Scent It Marula Mallow Miracle Melt Masque

Another quality deep conditioner for high porosity hair is the Marula Mallow Masque from She Scent It.

They create products that are handmade with the highest grade of raw materials to ensure we benefit from the best. A company that keeps its ingredients a priority is one I’ll always support.

This masque melts tangles and knots, restores and hydrates damaged hair, and provides intensive moisture.

After using this, you can expect long-lasting hydration and increased elasticity. I also love how delicious this smells!

Maui Moisture Shea Butter Mask

Maui Moisture Heal & Hydrate Shea Butter Hair Mask

Maui Moisture has a variety of affordable collections for diverse hair types and textures.

The Heal & Hydrate Shea Butter Mask is a multipurpose product — it can be used as a deep conditioner or a leave-in treatment. I’ve tried it both ways and wasn’t disappointed with my results!

It’s formulated with Shea Butter and rich Coconut and Macadamia oils that help quench, nourish, and soften the hair.

Tangles & Beyond Perfect Moisture

Tangles & Beyond Perfect Moisture Deep Conditioner

Tangles & Beyond is a small, black-owned brand that creates handmade products and I’ve always heard nothing but positive reviews about them.

I was able to finally try the Perfect Moisture Deep Conditioner and all I can say is the name of this describes it best! The ingredients are simple and straight to the point: Water, Aloe Vera, and Shea Butter.

Using this will help you detangle easier and faster and leave your curls moisturized.

Nature’s Little Secret Deep Conditioner

Nature's Little Secret Milk Strengthening Deep Conditioner

If you love the smell of Goat Milk, then you’ll enjoy this protein-based deep conditioner from Nature’s Little Secret.

The Milk Strengthening Deep Conditioner is formulated with Coconut and Goat Milk which are packed with vitamins and minerals that are useful for keeping our hair healthy.

Both ingredients are full of protein and have the following benefits:

  • Repairs and strengthens dry hair
  • Prevents protein loss
  • Promotes a healthy scalp
  • Provides moisture

This deep conditioner has an amazing slip for detangling and I love how strong my curls feel after using it.

OBIA Naturals Hair Mask

OBIA Naturals Babassu Therapy Hair Mask

The OBIA Naturals Babassu Therapy Hair Mask is a protein-based treatment that’s perfect for high porosity hair.

Using this will add strength, repair elasticity, and soften your curls. It also helps to reduce breakage and shedding by restoring your moisture balance.

On their website, it states that you can use this as needed without worrying about protein buildup or sensitivity. Depending on how your hair feels, you may want to increase how often you use protein in your regimen.

Soultanicals Afrotastic Curl Elastic

Soultanicals Afrotastic Curl Elastic is a great deep conditioner for high porosity hair.

Soultanicals Afrotastic Curl Elastic has been one of my favorite deep conditioners since the beginning of my journey.

Not only does it smell delicious, but it also has slip and moisture for days! It’s packed with nutrients that help to rehydrate and penetrate the hair cuticles.

Camille Rose Algae Renew

The Camille Rose Algae Renew Mask provides a great balance of moisture and protein. It’s perfect for strengthening and renewing dry, brittle hair.

I love the texture and how smoothly it applies to the hair. It smells good and will provide deep conditioning and nourishment for your curls!

This treatment is formulated with vitamin-rich blue algae, cocoa and mango butter, and biotin. They all work together to do the following:

  • Add softness and hydration
  • Provide maximum moisturizing benefits
  • Promote healthy growth
  • Restore nutrients to your hair

Mielle Organics Babassu Mint

Mielle Organics Babassu Mint Deep Conditioner

The last deep conditioner for high porosity hair that I recommend is the Babassu Mint from Mielle Organics.

It’s formulated with natural lipids that help lock in moisture and strengthen your strands from root to tip. I love the peppermint fragrance and minty sensation this provides when I apply it.

This treatment deeply hydrates, promotes blood circulation, fights frizz, and stimulates healthy hair growth.

If your hair needs a boost of moisture and added strength, this has you covered!

These deep conditioners for high porosity hair will provide better manageability and the moisture and strength your hair needs to thrive.

High porosity hair doesn’t have to be difficult to care for. As long as you have a consistent regimen with good-quality products, your curls will continue to flourish.

Hi! Great post! I’ve been reading up a lot on deep conditioning as I’m currently transitioning to natural. However, I’d like to ask, do you deep condition every week? I’ve read that deep conditioning is recommended once or twice per month using protein or moisture treatments, depending on what the hair needs. But there are so many naturalistas who recommend deep conditioning every week. What’s your take on this?

Hi, thank you so much for reading! I have a couple of posts for tips on transitioning because I transitioned for over one year before I did my big chop, so make sure to check those out as well! I’ve been deep conditioning weekly ever since starting my transition and it has been beneficial for the health of my hair. Some people who wash their hair every two weeks only deep condition biweekly, so it depends on your regimen. But I’d recommend doing it whenever you wash your hair!

I’ve already read those posts on transitioning. And I recently started following you on IG. You’re one of my new inspos. I’m excited about my new journey.

What is your IG so I can follow you back? And thank you so much. ❤️

I have never seen most of those deep conditioner to be honest maybe because where I’m from most people have relax hair and even if they have natural hair they don’t care it like that.

    • Reply Madisen August 18, 2020 at 2:48 pm

Most of these are from smaller black-owned brands that can’t be found in stores, so that could be another reason too! You should check them out for sure ❤️
