When you start recording and taking pictures for your blog or social media page, you may wonder what the best equipment for content creators is. You see a lot of high-quality videos other Influencers are posting, and you want to be able to create the same for your audience.
In the beginning, I didn’t have the money to buy everything, however, I’ve now been able to invest in more equipment to create good quality content on Instagram. I always receive questions from others on what I recommend and where did I purchase the equipment I use. So, why not put all of the deets in this post?
I understand everyone is at a different place in their blogging journey and may not want to spend a lot of money, therefore, I’m also including equipment for content creators that are budget
All of the equipment I use were purchased from Amazon. I know some people are skeptical to buy bigger items from them, however, I haven’t had an issue with any of the products I purchased whether it was a couple of dollars or over $100.
When I started my Instagram page, I had an iPhone 6S Plus. I used it to take all of my pictures and videos. The quality was decent, however, I knew it could be much better.
Until I was able to upgrade to an iPhone 8, I tried to create content in areas of my house where I’d have the most natural lighting. Lighting can either make or break how good your content turns out. Look around your house for well
iPhones can create quality content on its own, you don’t have to purchase an expensive camera in the beginning. You have to make it work with what you already have.
Another piece of equipment for content creators I recommend is a tripod. A tripod is perfect for holding your phone or camera steady while creating content. Most tripods have adjustable legs to make it taller if
Here is the tripod I used at the beginning of my journey. I still have it and will continue to use it depending on where I’m at in my house.
The tripod also comes with a remote to connect via Bluetooth to your phone. This will help you take the best pictures without holding your phone or being close to it.
You want your pictures and videos to come out bright and professional. Another piece of equipment for content creators to invest in is a ring light. It’s perfect to use when you don’t have much lighting to work with. Remember, having great lighting is important when it comes to your content. If your pictures and videos are bright, they will become more attractive and your audience is more likely to show engagement.
Here is the first ring light I purchased. It made a difference with the quality of my content, don’t let the size of it fool you! The best part is, it also comes attached to a tripod, has a phone holder, and remote control for taking pictures. I’d recommend this if you need both a tripod and ring light.
Eventually, I was able to purchase a bigger ring light from Amazon and you can find that one below. I’ve been using it for a few months now and I love it. You’re able to control the brightness of it and attach your phone or camera in the middle.
This is optional, and I say that because you may not want to sit down while creating content. However, if you do want to sit down and stay comfortable, I’d recommend this adjustable stool I recently purchased.
I wanted to be comfortable while taking pictures and recording videos, and this stool was a great investment to make. This chair makes everything easier and you won’t have to worry about having a sore behind afterward!
This piece of equipment for content creators is something I recently added to my recording space. Some days when I decide to create content it’s cloudy outside and the ring light isn’t enough! Adding this light creates the perfect balance for my content and ensures it remains bright.
The softbox light is a cheaper option but still provides perfect lighting. It does come in a set if you think you need more than one. I love using this in combination with my ring light.
I don’t have to worry about one side of my content being dim while the other side is bright. Honestly, if you don’t have the money to invest in a ring light at the moment, I’d recommend buying a set of softbox lights.
Canon Rebel T6
Yes, I said you don’t need a camera when you first start out as a Content Creator, and it’s true! However, if you do eventually want to invest in a decent camera, this is the one I currently use.
I thought having a camera would be easy, but it’s important to learn your settings and make sure you’re using the perfect lens. Don’t expect to pick up the camera and start creating right away! You’ll have to read and watch YouTube videos to figure out how to work it.
I purchased my camera from a website called HSN. It came as a kit and included two lenses, a battery and charger, SD card, and a
There are other good cameras out there. I’d recommend doing your research and don’t be afraid to ask other content creators what they use. Sometimes it’s not the camera itself that creates good content, it’s the settings you use and the type of lenses you have.
I recently upgraded my lens and I purchased it off Amazon below. A friend recommended this and I’ve seen a change in quality since using it.
This is also optional! I created content for a long time without using a backdrop. As long as you don’t have clutter in the background that can become a distraction, you should be fine!
If you do want a background for your content, then you can purchase a backdrop. They have plenty to choose from on Amazon, however, you want to pay attention to the size of it and the quality.
The first couple of backdrops I purchased can be found below. I didn’t like them too much because of the wrinkles. I tried to iron them out and put them in the dryer, but it didn’t make them better. If you do have a steamer to get rid of them or you don’t mind the wrinkles, then this is a great backdrop to start with.
If you want a backdrop without wrinkles, then I’d recommend Seamless Paper. There’s a website called B&H Photo Video you can visit to purchase this type of paper, however, I purchased mine on Amazon because it’s cheaper. Once you add in the shipping costs from B&H, you might as well order from Amazon, especially if you’re a Prime Member or spend enough money to qualify for free shipping.
They have plenty of colors to choose from. I have pink, yellow, and coral! You can check them out below and find the colors you love. For the size, I recommend 53 in x 36 ft which is perfect for taking selfies and recording videos.
Once you do invest in a backdrop, you want to add the last piece of equipment for content creators in your recording space we’re about to discuss.
This is a backdrop support stand that holds up the Seamless paper or any backdrop you purchase. Unless you want to cut the paper and tape it to a wall, then this is also good to have in your recording area.
It doesn’t take long to put together and it’s lightweight. The one I purchased is adjustable and can go lower or higher if needed. This comes with everything you need to properly hang up your backdrop and keep it gripped tightly.
Having this support stand has made it easier to create content and switch colors whenever I want to change it.
That’s all of the equipment I have as a Content Creator at the moment. I’m sure it will continue to change as I gain experience, however, for now, it works great for me.
You don’t have to invest in all of the equipment I mentioned in this post. Focus on what your budget allows and continue to invest in yourself and your personal brand as time goes on.
You’re on your way to becoming a bomb Content Creator producing good quality content for your audience!
