Why Your Skin Isn’t Clear:
You’re Not Consistent

Do you have a consistent skincare routine? Without one, you can’t expect to achieve clear and healthy skin. It’s important to create a routine that you’re able to practice regularly. You don’t need a ton of products or certain tools that claim to give you the best results. There are basic steps you need in your routine such as:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
Doesn’t that look easy to keep up with? Of course, there are other steps you can add such as exfoliating, facial masks, and spot treatments, however, you can still keep your routine simple and straight to the point.
If you try to over-complicate things, it’ll be harder to stay consistent. Sometimes keeping things simple is more effective.

Not Removing Makeup
I know many women are guilty of doing this. You come home late at night exhausted, so you fall asleep with your makeup on and think it’s not a big deal. This is another reason why you aren’t achieving clear and healthy skin.
When you sleep with makeup on, you’re more prone to breakouts, clogged pores, wrinkles, and other irritations. And no, quickly wiping your face with a baby wipe isn’t going to cut it!
I know how it feels to be tired and not want to do your skincare routine, however, it’ll only benefit you over time. Take those 5-10 minutes to wash your face. I promise, your skin will thank you for it!

Using Bad Products

Before you start building a skincare routine and purchasing products, it’s important to know your skin type. When you know your skin type, you’re able to choose products that will be more effective and suitable for you. If you don’t know your skin type, check out this post: The Guide to Finding Your Skin Type.
If you’re a product junkie, then I understand you want to try everything. There are many products to choose from, therefore, it’s hard to decide what would work best for you! However, trying a lot of products every day won’t provide you with clear and healthy skin; It will do the opposite. And unfortunately, I learned this the hard way!

Even if your products contain safe ingredients, it’s best to keep it simple.
You’re Impatient
I’m sure you’re ready to get your routine started and see instant results, however, this isn’t the way it works! You can’t expect any product, no matter what it claims, to produce results overnight! That’s why it’s important to create a routine you can stay consistent with. Consistency and using effective products will eventually help you achieve the results you desire.
A good thing to do is take pictures of your skin regularly. You’ll be able to look back and see how far you’ve come! Sometimes we aren’t able to look in the mirror and see changes. Comparing your pictures will keep you motivated on this journey!
If you’re wondering why you don’t have clear and healthy skin yet, ask yourself if any of these reasons apply to you. I’m not an expert and have made mistakes in my journey. I experience ups and downs with my skin like everyone else and sometimes get frustrated.
However, staying consistent with my routine and using the right products for my skin type have been helpful and provided great results over time.

Great post! My biggest mistakes are 2 you mentioned, not being consistent and not having any patience! Once I’m consistent for 4 weeks straight I get disappointed if I don’t see any drastic results and I slack off again instead of continuing! I have to do better! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for reading boo! I’m still the same way at times especially if it’s been months of me using the same products! I’m trying to do better though! ♥️
All of these were reasons why my face was acting up. After I got a regimen, started to drink more water, take off my make up and decreased my stress. A bihhhhhh skin started to flourish lol
Lol I know that’s right sis ???? especially drinking water! It made a huge difference for me too!
Thank you for sharing these tips! I think a lot about these things but just have a hard time implementing a routine. For the products you listed, (Cleanser, Toner , Moisturizer, Sunscreen) are these things you should apply twice a day or just once? Thank you in advance!
Thank you for reading! I can understand that, I had a difficult time at first too. You should use a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer twice a day. Sunscreen should only be using in the mornings.
Trying all the products that work on other ppl. lol. Knowing good and well my skin is sensitive. I also fine that my skin on like cream cleansers. Realizing this has made all the difference in my skin care routine.
Girl I was doing the same thing lol. Literally tried something that burnt my face one time and I couldn’t touch it or put anything on it for a week. I recently started using a cream cleanser and that works great for my sensitive skin too!
A skin routine is a must, it’s part of your body that you should take care of everyday like taking a shower or a bath. I wash my face with African Black Soap and follow up with a facial scrub and mask.
Yes you’re right about that! I’ve used African Black Soap before but unfortunately it started to make my skin feel squeaky ? but I still use it as a body wash!
Nice article, especially the Skincare tips & I really got to know something helpful from this article.
