You’re not consistent with your routine

Do you have a consistent skincare routine? Without one, you can’t expect to achieve clear and healthy skin. It’s important to create a skincare routine that you’re able to practice regularly.

You don’t need a ton of products or certain techniques and tools that claim to give you the best results. There are basic steps you need in your routine if you want to achieve clear and healthy skin:

  • Cleanser
  • Toner
  • Moisturizer
  • Sunscreen

Now, doesn’t that look easy to keep up with? Of course there are other steps you can add such as exfoliating, facial masks, and different spot treatments, however, you can still keep your routine simple and straight to the point.

If you try to over-complicate things, you won’t stay consistent with your skincare routine. Sometimes keeping things simple is more effective.

You sleep with makeup on

One reason you may not have clear and healthy skin is because you sleep with makeup on. | NaturallyMadisen.com

I know many women are guilty of doing this at times. You come home late at night exhausted, so you fall asleep with your makeup on and think it’s not a big deal. Well, this can be another reason why you aren’t achieving clear and healthy skin.

When you sleep with makeup on, you’re more prone to breakouts, clogged pores, wrinkles, and other irritations. And no, quickly wiping your face with a baby wipe isn’t going to cut it!

I know how it feels to be tired and not want to do your skincare routine, however, it’ll only benefit you over time. If you want to achieve clear and healthy skin, take those 5-10 minutes to complete your skincare routine. I promise, your skin will thank you for it!

You’re using the wrong products

If you want to achieve clear and healthy skin, you must ensure you're using the correct products. | NaturallyMadisen.com

Before you start building a skincare routine and purchasing different products, it’s important to know your skin type. When you know your skin type, you’re able to choose products that will be more effective and suitable for you.

If you’re a product junkie, then I understand you want to try everything. There are many products for skin care, therefore, it’s hard to decide what would work best for you!

However, trying a lot of different products everyday won’t provide you with clear and healthy skin; It will do the opposite. And unfortunately, I learned this the hard way!

Once I made the switch to using organic skin care products, I wanted to try everything. Since they were organic, I didn’t see any harm in trying different products everyday. Eventually, my face started to break out and my dark spots became worse.

Even if your products contain organic ingredients, it’s best to keep it simple and stay consistent with the products you choose.

Stick to the basics and focus on investing in products that are best for your skin type. Invest in a good quality cleanser, a facial toner, and a moisturizer that will leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Two of my favorite toners to use in my skincare routine can be found on Amazon below! These have worked best for my dry, sensitive skin.

You’re not being patient with your routine

I understand, you’re ready to get your routine started and see instant results, however, this isn’t the way it works! If you want to achieve clear and healthy skin, it’ll take time. You can’t expect any product, no matter what it claims, to produce results overnight!

That’s why it’s important to create a skincare routine you can stay consistent with. Consistency and using effective products will eventually help you achieve the results you desire.

A good thing to do is take pictures of your skin regularly. You’ll be able to look back and see how far you’ve come! Sometimes we aren’t able to look in the mirror and see changes, but looking at your pictures will help a lot.

If you’re wondering why you don’t have clear and healthy skin yet, ask yourself if any of these reasons apply to you.

I’m not a skincare expert and I’ve made my share of mistakes in my journey. I experience ups and downs with my skin like everyone else and sometimes get frustrated.

However, staying consistent with my routine and using the right products for my skin type have been helpful and provided great results over time.

Take a look at your daily routine and see if you’re making any of these above mistakes. If you are, it’s time to make a change so you can start seeing results in no time.

Let’s achieve clear and healthy skin together!

Great post! My biggest mistakes are 2 you mentioned, not being consistent and not having any patience! Once I’m consistent for 4 weeks straight I get disappointed if I don’t see any drastic results and I slack off again instead of continuing! I have to do better! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading boo! I’m still the same way at times especially if it’s been months of me using the same products! I’m trying to do better though! ♥️

All of these were reasons why my face was acting up. After I got a regimen, started to drink more water, take off my make up and decreased my stress. A bihhhhhh skin started to flourish lol

Thank you for sharing these tips! I think a lot about these things but just have a hard time implementing a routine. For the products you listed, (Cleanser, Toner , Moisturizer, Sunscreen) are these things you should apply twice a day or just once? Thank you in advance!

Thank you for reading! I can understand that, I had a difficult time at first too. You should use a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer twice a day. Sunscreen should only be using in the mornings.

Girl I was doing the same thing lol. Literally tried something that burnt my face one time and I couldn’t touch it or put anything on it for a week. I recently started using a cream cleanser and that works great for my sensitive skin too!

A skin routine is a must, it’s part of your body that you should take care of everyday like taking a shower or a bath. I wash my face with African Black Soap and follow up with a facial scrub and mask.

    • Reply Madisen March 25, 2019 at 3:08 pm

Yes you’re right about that! I’ve used African Black Soap before but unfortunately it started to make my skin feel squeaky ? but I still use it as a body wash!
