Black woman splashing face with water

When I started taking the health of my skin seriously, it took me forever to find products that worked. One of the biggest things I struggled with was finding the perfect face cleansers for sensitive skin.

It has been a long journey, however, I’m happy to say that I’ve finally found what works best for me!

Keep in mind that even though we may share the same skin type, it’s important to do a patch test. Patch testing new products is key when you have sensitive skin. One small thing can set you back to square one.

In this post, I’m sharing my favorite cleansers for sensitive skin. Most of them are budget-friendly and some you have to splurge on. However, I promise every product is worth it!

Face Cleansers for Sensitive Skin

Josie Maran Pineapple Enzyme Cleanser

The Pineapple Enzyme Pore Clearing Cleanser from Josie Maran has quickly become one of my favorites!

It’s formulated with Pineapple Enzymes, Marshmallow Root, and 100% Pure Argan Oil which is great for dry, sensitive skin.

This cleanser gently exfoliates by dissolving dead skin and does an amazing job at removing impurities without causing dryness. Whenever I use this, my face feels refreshed and moisturized which is something I always look for in my face washes.

Here are some benefits of using this:

  • Balances blemish-prone skin
  • Clears pores + provides an even skin tone
  • Increases moisture levels + hydration
  • Reveals a brighter, renewed complexion

It smells exactly like Pineapples, however, it isn’t a strong fragrance that’ll cause irritation. I highly recommend giving this a try!

Rosen Smoothie Cleanser

Rosen Super Smoothie Cleanser

Another quality cleanser to try is the Rosen Skincare Super Smoothie Cleanser.

This smoothie textured cleanser is perfect for balancing sebum levels, brightening the complexion, and providing an even skin tone.

It has small beads which provide gentle, light exfoliation and will leave your face feeling smooth!

Skin & Co Whipped Cleansing Cream

Skin & Co Whipped Cleansing Cream

I was introduced to this brand when I subscribed to BoxyCharm, a monthly subscription box where you receive beauty products from different companies.

Ever since I tried this Whipped Cleansing Cream from Skin & Co, I fell in love with it!

This is a gel-creme cleanser formulated to provide a deep cleanse and remove makeup, dirt, and impurities.

It keeps your pores free from congestion + blemishes and does a great job of soothing and calming the most sensitive skin. I love that it spreads easily and leaves my skin moisturized and soft.

Here are more benefits of this cleanser:

  • Provides intense hydration
  • Restores the skin’s natural moisture barrier
  • Has anti-inflammatory + antiseptic properties
  • Brightens blemishes + discoloration
  • Cleanses without stripping the skin

Skin & Co Face Gommage

Skin & Co Face Gommage is the perfect cleanser and exfoliant for sensitive skin.

The Face Gommage from Skin & Co is another great cleanser for sensitive skin.

I love that you can cleanse and exfoliate at the same time with this product. It cuts down on the number of steps you have to do in your routine!

This cleanser gently removes impurities and dirt while revealing a healthier complexion. Remember, exfoliating in your skincare routine regularly is important. You want to get rid of those dead skin cells so you can achieve that natural glow!

The exfoliant in this cleanser is finely milled Apricot Seed Powder, which is something I’ve never tried before. I love it when an exfoliant is gentle because I don’t have to worry about it being too abrasive for my skin.

This cleanser also has the following benefits:

  • Provides a rejuvenated, radiant finish
  • Buffs away dry, flaky skin
  • Provides a youthful, hydrated complexion
  • Brightens blemishes + discoloration
  • Repairs skin cells damaged by free radicals

Premier Naturals African Black Soap

The next cleanser that I recommend is the African Black Soap from Premier Naturals by K2.

When I started my skincare journey, I had a bad experience with black soap. I ended up choosing a brand that didn’t sell authentic African Black Soap and it irritated + burnt my skin terribly.

It’s important to make sure the black soap you purchase is legit — remember, it’s brown, not black!

There are many benefits of using African Black Soap such as:

  • Contains antibacterial properties
  • Helps soothe skin irritations (eczema)
  • Helps fight acne w/ antimicrobial properties
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation
  • Improves skin texture

I’m happy I decided to give African Black Soap another try. Once I saw the results it provided me, I was sold.

TruSkin Naturals Vitamin C Cleanser

The last best cleanser for sensitive skin is the Vitamin C Cleanser from TruSkin Naturals.

This cleanser is formulated with high-quality ingredients and is the perfect solution for those with sensitive skin. One ingredient that stood out to me in this cleanser is, of course, Vitamin C.

Vitamin C is known to be one of the best anti-aging ingredients and the key to maintaining a smooth, even complexion.

It has the following benefits:

  • It’s hydrating for the skin
  • Helps fade pigmentation + brighten the skin
  • Anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness
  • Helps even out your skin tone

This provides a great lather and helps fade stubborn dark spots. You don’t have to worry about this drying out your skin or causing irritation.

Using these face cleansers for sensitive skin will help you maintain the overall health and look of your complexion. Ever since I found good-quality cleansers, my routine has improved.

Skincare is all about trial and error, you won’t know how well something works until you try.

Don’t expect to see results overnight. It takes time and consistency to notice a difference in your skin. By using quality products for your skin type and keeping a consistent routine, you can be confident that the results will soon follow!

I haven’t seen these other brands. But I had the same issue with black soap burning my skin. If I use it once a month I’m okay, but anymore than that I’ve got a problem.

Yeah it can be too harsh for some people’s skin! It depends on the ingredients though. When I purchased from smaller brands I had better experiences with african black soap.
